The Feminist Book Box closed at the end of 2022.
Launching and creating this fantastic feminist community has been a rewarding and exciting adventure for us. Behind the scenes, our team have been battling various challenges that, sadly, we’ve been unable to move past, and we are truly sorry for any disappointment caused by this news.
We want to say a big thank you to all customers and subscribers for being a part of The Feminist Book Box community. We hope the books and content we’ve shared over the past two years continue to inspire, delight, and broaden your bookshelf for many years to come.
In the spirit of inclusive feminism, we highly recommend following our friends at Virago who celebrate their 50th anniversary in 2023, and The Black Feminist Bookshop, a queer-Black-woman-owned project inspired by resistance, imagination, and care. Also, seek out The Second Shelf, The Feminist Bookshop in Brighton, and The Feminist Library whose Friends Scheme would welcome your support.

Why is The Feminist Book Box closing?
Our team have been battling various challenges that, sadly, we’ve been unable to move past, and we are truly sorry for any disappointment caused by this news.
I have a subscription. Will I get a refund?
As per our Terms of Service, all customers with active subscriptions will receive refunds for the months remaining on their pre-paid subscription. Refunds will be processed to the original payment method used at purchase.
I have a gift card. Will I get a refund?
As per our Terms of Service, customers with active gift cards will have the full balance refunded to the original payment method used at purchase.
I bought my subscription with a gift card. How will my refund work?
For fraud-prevention purposes, and due to Shopify’s functionality, we cannot process refunds to any payment card or bank account other than that used to place the order. Your subscription will be refunded to the gift card, and the gift card will be refunded to payment method used to purchase the gift card.
What refund will I be entitled to?
As per our Terms of Service, refunds for subscriptions will be calculated based on the number of remaining months in your pre-paid subscription that will not be fulfilled. For example, if you have already received 4 boxes of your 6-month subscription, you will receive a refund to the value of 2 boxes. If you used a discount code at time of purchase, this will be accounted for when calculating your refund amount. Refunds for gift cards will be for the total active gift card balance – i.e., any value that has not been spent or expired.
Can my refund be sent to a different card or account?
For fraud-prevention and security reasons, we cannot process refunds to any payment card or bank account other than that used to place the order.
I am a customer and/or newsletter subscriber. What will happen to my data?
In order to resolve any queries that may arise, we will retain all customer and transactional data for a period of three months, after which we will delete your personal data other than where necessary to comply with applicable accounting and taxation laws, which generally require retention for 7 years from the end of the relevant financial or tax year in which the transaction, order or payment took place. You will no longer receive email marketing from The Feminist Book Box if you had opted in to do so. Any other email marketing delivered by Hachette UK that you have opted in to will not be impacted.
Will I still be able to access the recordings of author in-conversations?
Yes, they will remain accessible through the subscriber area of our website, and will be relocated in early 2023.
